FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What kind of food will be taught in the class?
A: My passion is teaching Indian cuisine, but I I also love to teach a variety of cuisines from all over the world.
Baking classes are available too.
I encourage you if possible, to let me know what dishes you would like to learn.
Q: Where will the class be taught?
A: The class can be taught at any location.
Q: What are the rates for a class?
A: For adults, my rates vary for private, semi-private or group classes, so please contact me.
My rates to teach children are dependant on the dishes chosen, age and number of children.
I purchase all of the ingredients/spices and set up/clean up.
During any class, I can prepare a larger quantity of food for you to take home and enjoy.
There is an extra charge to take food home and this depends on the dishes selected.
Q: How many dishes will be taught during the class?
A: Three dishes will be taught from start to finish. These dishes will then be enjoyed at the end of class.
In my home, I teach demonstration style classes only.
Q: Will there be enough time for questions/answers during the class?
A: Absolutely. I believe it is very important and the best way to learn is to teach interactive cooking classes.
My goal is that you leave my class with an understanding of the dishes, and the confidence that you can recreate the recipes in the comfort of your own home.
Q: Will I leave the class with any materials?
A: You will leave my class with copies of the recipes I have taught.
For Indian cooking classes, you will also receive handouts about the six primary spices, several other spices and where to purchase these spices.
I sell a Masala Dabba or Indian Gourmet Starter Spice Kit that consists of the primary spices in a stainless steel container, as well as a bonus spice, which is typically cumin powder or mango powder.
This is accompanied by a handout explaining the role that each spice plays, along with with a few popular Indian recipes.
There is a photograph of this spice kit attached below.
Q: How will the small group class be scheduled?
A: You are welcome to bring your own family/friends.
Additional Information: I can teach cooking/baking classes specifically catered to children.
Cooking parties for birthdays, anniversaries, school/private events, or other special celebrations for adults and children can also be arranged.
